    • Board Self-Assessment (BSA). The BSA is an online survey tool and assessment process that enables the board to establish a common understanding of its roles and responsibilities as well as discover critical areas for improvement. A BoardSource consultant can analyze and interpret the results of the assessment and apply the data to help plan and facilitate your next board retreat.

The Source Diagnostic. This survey and assessment tool focuses on guided assessment of the board’s embodiment of 12 core principles that power exceptional boards. It includes a chief executive survey, board member survey, one-on-one follow-up interviews, and a review of organizational documents and policies.  Participating organizations receive

BoardSource governance consultants are prepared to help educate your board in all of these areas and can present any of our standard training workshops in person or asWebinars.  

    • Bylaw or Policy Review and Writing. A consultant can work with you to review, edit, or rewrite your board policies or bylaws.

    • Assessment of the Chief Executive (ACE). The ACE will help your board fulfill its responsibility to manage and evaluate the chief executive as well as avoid the risks associated with lack of oversight and engagement. The online tool enables you to survey board members, receive an objective summary of their input on chief executive performance, and set annual performance goals.  A BoardSource consultant can also provide an analytical report based on the results of the assessment.
