BoardSource Leadership Forum
“In a time of drastic change, it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists.” -Eric HofferLeading Change in the Emerging EconomyWhen the smoke of these turbulent times clears, nonprofit governance will have a new focus and meaning in a new economic environment. Dedicated to advancing the public good by building exceptional nonprofit boards and inspiring board service, BoardSource will convene leaders from the volunteer, public, and private sectors to examine the dynamics and implications of these changes – stimulating rich analysis as well as practical insights and approaches that will influence all sectors, including thousands of nonprofit boards across the U.S. AboutThe BoardSource Leadership Forum is the only conference wholly focused on the governing challenges facing our country’s nonprofit organizations. Attendees include nonprofit board members, chief executives, foundation and corporate leaders, consultants, researchers and academics, and others interested in and committed to effective nonprofit leadership, accountability, and good governance. The conference program is under development and will be posted on our Web site as it evolves starting in May. What we can tell you now is that the program will feature speeches, small sessions, workshops, and clinics that focus on “The Board of the Future” in which experts will address a wide range of topics including economic variables, leadership, strategy, sustainability, public policy, and governance principles. Lectures and discussion will analyze changing relationships among volunteer, private, and public sectors, and the potential short- and long-term implications for nonprofit organizations and their governing boards. Networking opportunities throughout the conference will strengthen connections among nonprofit and other sector leaders. ScheduleWednesday, Nov. 18 & Thursday Nov. 19: Presessions. Friday, Nov. 20: A full day featuring an opening general session, audience polling, leadership luncheon, clinics focusing on “The Board of the Future,” workshops, and a special session for new board members.
