John A. Yankey Ph.D.
Dr. John A. Yankey is the Leonard W. Mayo Professor at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Yankey teaches in the areas of strategic planning, fundraising, nonprofit management, and political processes. During his years at Case Western Reserve University, he has administered a number of statewide training programs; served in a variety of administrative positions within the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, including Associate Dean and Acting Dean; and carried out legislative liaison responsibilities for Case Western Reserve University as Assistant to the President. Dr. Yankey recently concluded one-year service as the Interim Executive Director of the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations. He is the Director of Community Services at the Center and also co-directs the Mandel School’s Center for Public Sector Leadership and Service.
Dr. Yankey has published a number of articles in social work and nonprofit management journals. In 1991, he co-edited Skills for Effective Human Services Management, which has proven to be a popular text in social work management education programs throughout the United States. In 1996, he co-authored Building a Strong Foundation: Fundraising for Nonprofits. In the spring of 1998, he co-edited a new nonprofit management text entitled Skills for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations. In 2001, he co-authored two workbooks on developing strategic alliances: Merging Non-Profit Organizations: The Art & Science of the Deal and Nonprofit Strategic Alliances Case Studies: Lessons from the Trenches.
