Paul M. Connolly
Paul Connolly is senior vice president at TCC Group, a firm that provides management consulting, strategic planning, and evaluation services to nonprofit organizations, philanthropies, and government agencies (see www.tccgrp.com for more information about the firm). He leads the firm’s philanthropy practice, previously oversaw the firm’s nonprofit practice, and serves on the firm’s board of directors. He is a consultant, manager, educator, and writer, and is especially knowledgeable about and experienced in organizational capacity building, strategic planning, grantmaking, evaluation, cultural participation, and social enterprise.
Mr. Connolly has provided consulting services to a wide array of nonprofit organizations, and has assisted a variety of funders to plan, implement, and evaluate capacity-building activities. He has been a presenter at national conferences, a trainer and facilitator for numerous regional grantmaker and nonprofit associations, and a lecturer at universities. He has served on the boards of a community health center, a local community board, and an artist’s credit union. He is co-author of Strengthening Nonprofit Performance: A Funder’s Guide to Capacity Building (with Carol Lukas) and Increasing Cultural Participation: An Audience Development Handbook for Presenters, Producers, and Their Collaborators (with Marcelle Hinand Cady).
Before joining TCC Group nine years ago, Mr. Connolly was associate director of Nonprofit Facilities Fund (NFF), where he oversaw operations and managed consulting, training, and publishing services. Previously, he was a management consultant for nonprofit organizations, working independently in New York and at Storey and Green Associates in San Francisco. Earlier in his career, he worked in New York City government and at Pfizer Inc.’s Public Affairs Division, a Regional Development Authority in the Netherlands, and the U.K. Inner Cities Directorate. Mr. Connolly received his master’s degree in Public and Private Management from Yale School of Management, where he was awarded the Jess Morrow Johns Memorial Scholarship, and a bachelor of arts degree with honors from Harvard University.
