Linda C. Crompton, President and CEO
Linda C. Crompton joined BoardSource in the fall of 2007. She has more than 25 years of experience in business, finance, and organizational strategy and a strong commitment to social responsibility and exceptional governance. Before joining BoardSource Linda served as President and CEO of the Washington-based Investor Responsibility Research Center (IRRC), the leading source of independent, impartial research on corporations and shareholder issues.

In 1996, she founded Citizens Bank of Canada, Canada's first branchless bank. Linda was a federal Commissioner on the 2001-2002 "Canadian Democracy and Corporate Accountability" Commission.

Over her career Linda has served as a director of more than 20 organizations in the nonprofit, for-profit, and public sectors. She was formerly a member of the Board of Governors of the University of British Columbia, the chair of the governance committee of Encorp Pacific, a Canadian nonprofit dedicated to recycling, and an advisory board member of Ethical Funds, Canada's first family of socially responsible mutual funds.

She holds an MBA from the University of Kent Canterbury (UK), a MA from the University of British Columbia (CAN), and a BA from Simon Fraser University (CAN).

Fred Sherman, Chief Financial Officer
A certified public accountant, Fred joined BoardSource in June 2010. He most recently served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute, where he was responsible for day-to-day operations including finance, human resources, information technology, legal and compliance, and office management. He previously spent 15 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he served as Director for Global Tax Technology.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, Fred is a resident of historic Mount Pleasant in Washington, D.C., and is past treasurer of Mount Pleasant Main Street, an organization that serves to revitalize the neighborhood commercial district. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and earned his BBA in Accounting and Database Management and Analysis.

Susan S. Meier, Vice President of Consulting and Training
Susan is a proven nonprofit leader who has specialized in organizational capacity building, nonprofit governance, and nonprofit management throughout her 16 years of experience in the sector. Prior to joining BoardSource in 2004, she served as Vice President, Chapter Services, for Prevent Child Abuse America, where she strengthened the organization’s 40-state chapter network by developing a state chapter credentialing program and a capacity building system. She also provided key leadership for an organizational assessment process that led to a restructuring of relationships within the network, and greater satisfaction among chapters. In addition, Susan is a current board member of The LemonAid Fund and past board president of Harkness House for Children. She graduated cum laude from Ripon College.

Deborah J. Davidson, Vice President of Governance Research and Publications
Prior to joining BoardSource in September 2008, Deborah was Director of Publications and Editor-in-Chief of Directors Monthly at the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and Deputy Director of the Council of Institutional Investors. Before coming to Washington, Deborah was an assistant dean of students and alumni at the University of Wisconsin Law School, as well as editor of a prominent contracts textbook. She was editor of Shelf-Life Books, Madison, WI, and an advertising copywriter for Madison Advertising, Shelf-Life's parent company.

She received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin, and a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from the University of Iowa. She is a member of the Wisconsin and District of Columbia bars and a charter member of the Corporate Directors Institute.

Anne Wallestad, Vice President of Strategic Development and Partnerships
In her role as the Vice President of Strategic Development & Partnerships, Anne works to develop strategic partnerships with foundations, corporations, and nonprofit organizations to support and implement programs to strengthen nonprofit governance in communities across the country.

Prior to joining BoardSource in December 2008, Anne served as the Vice President of Development at the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute, where she helped facilitate – from the staff perspective – a strategic restructuring of the groups’ boards of directors and leadership. A seasoned nonprofit professional, she has held leadership positions with a number of local and national organizations including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network and the Human Rights Campaign, where she was responsible for partnering with and training leaders in communities targeted for organizational expansion and growth. Anne is also an experienced trainer and facilitator, and has worked with boards and volunteer networks to strengthen volunteer management, events management and fundraising skills.

Anne graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Drake University in Des Moines, IA, where she majored in English and sociology.

Mark Doyon, Vice President of Marketing and Membership
Mark joined BoardSource in 2008, after founding and directing Wampus Multimedia LLC, a media firm specializing in branding and corporate image. He previously served as Director of Marketing, Communications and Product Development for the Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA), as Director of Publications for the National Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (NARF), and as Director of Communications for the National Rehabilitation Association (NRA). He has edited many national publications, from Web sites, magazines, and newsletters to policy papers and journals.

Mark received his B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary, is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organization Management, and earned his M.S. in Arts Administration, with a concentration in new media, from Shenandoah University.

Marci Sunderland, Vice President of Human Resources
Marci joined BoardSource in November 2000. Prior to her BoardSource tenure, she provided Human Resources support to subsidiaries of a former Fortune 500 company, Columbia Energy Group. In addition to working with Group Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation, the natural gas transmission and storage subsidiary, she supported their start-up telecommunications company, Columbia Transmission Communications, and helped the companies through the merger of Columbia Energy Group and NiSource. Before concentrating on human resource management, Marci was in the information technology recruiting field. She is a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator instructor and graduated from Rutgers University, where she studied Psychology and Economics with a focus in Accounting.
